Wiregrass Georgia Technical College Assistant Director for Financial Aid (FT) in Valdosta, Georgia

The Assistant Director for Financial Aid, in conjunction with the Executive Director of Financial Aid, will be responsible for planning, organizing and coordinating the college's student financial aid functions to include, but not limited to, scholarships, grants, the work-study program, and private loans. Primary responsibilities include coordinating financial aid programs offered by the college; utilizing various financial aid software; ensuring that the college adheres to all Federal and State regulations and TCSG policies and procedures; assisting with supervision for all campuses of Wiregrass GA Tech Financial Aid; travel to other campuses and occasional overnight travel for state and federal training may also be required. In addition to the duties listed above, the Assistant Director for Financial Aid may be asked to serve on local and statewide committees or attend other functions for the College as needed. S/He must represent the college in a manner which supports the values and mission of the College.

SUMMARY OF WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Equipment Used: Standard office equipment.
  • Working Conditions: Category III - No foreseen exposure to hazardous chemicals/pathogens. Probability of working beyond the normal shift, but not frequently. Periodic travel between major Wiregrass campuses and satellite sites.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree from an academic institution accredited by an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education

and

Two (2) years of work related experience. Work experience must be directly related to Financial Aid.

**Note: An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

In addition to meeting all other minimum qualifications, the highly desired candidate will possess the following: At least two (2) years of supervisory experience in a Student Affairs/Enrollment Management Department of a postsecondary institution and one or more of the following: Experience in the use of a financial aid software - Banner Financial Aid, EDConnect, SURFER, or other Department of Education software.

SALARY/BENEFITS

Salary is $57,000/yr. This position is full-time and includes standard State of GA benefits such as leave accrual, options for health and other supplemental benefits, and retirement. This position may qualify the successful candidate for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.

This position is funded in whole or in part by State/Local/Tuition funds.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS

Pursuant to college policy, a thorough background investigation, including a criminal history records check and emplo ment history reference checks will be performed for all candidates offered employment. Other checks such as Motor Vehicle Records may be conducted for any candidate receiving an offer, as well as internal candidates prior to being promoted or transferred into a position with the college.
