Central States Manufacturing Senior Checker in Villa Rica, Georgia
Description
The Senior Checker is responsible for checking Elevate Structures’ Permit Set, Approval Set, and/or Field Use Drawings to ensure that the drawings (a) meet all technical specifications, (b) conform to materials and dimensions specified within the architectural drawings, outside engineer of record drawings, and/or from order clarity provided by Pre-Construction Project Manager, as applicable, and (c) are in compliance with company standards. The Senior Checker will also coordinate with Drafters to identify technical issues, suggest solutions, and provide redline comments. The Senior Checker will ensure that each drawing or draft provides required plans and details to prevent problems during construction.
Core Functions:
Participate in a Job kick-off meeting with Drafting Team Leader and Design Engineer
Monitor the progress of Drafters weekly and provide updates to the Drafting Team Leader
Receive and coordinate questions from Drafters until resolved. Escalate questions to Drafting Team Leader as required if Checker is unable to answer.
Actively follow up on unanswered questions with Drafting Team Leader until resolved
Check Elevate Structures’ Permit Set and/or Approval Set until approved
Check all aspects of drawings for accuracy and compliance with company standards
Complete the Checker Checklist form on every job
Provided Drafter with detailed redlines and instructions to correct drawings. Checker should actively follow up on all redlines until resolved
As appropriate, provide new details / unusual conditions to the Drafting Team Leader to determine if the detail should be incorporated into the detail library
Actively participate in daily training/watch recordings if you miss/ask questions if you don’t understand.
Focus on active follow-up and follow through (Same Day send out; 48 hours check back)
Keep track of what information others owe you and follow up on activity until you get it
Assist the Director of Engineering and Drafting or Drafting Team Leader in ad hoc requirements as necessary to advance the company's and Drafting Department's overall objectives.

Proactive requesting and follow up on outstanding inquiries (Same Day send out; 48 hours check back)
98% accuracy on drawings
98% delivery of shop drawings by planned operation date
On-time delivery of submittals and shop drawings.
Knowledge of heavy structural and light gauge steel building designs, means, and methods.
Excellent command of drawing review tools and techniques.
Strong organizational and follow-up skills
Ability to investigate problems or potential problems to avoid reoccurrence.
Proficient in Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Ability to communicate at numerous levels internal and external to the company.
Excellence in oral and written communication in English.

Education & Experience:
Minimum Required:
Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree
Experience may be accepted in lieu of education or formal certifications.
Minimum of (5) years experience as a Drafter and/or Checker
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Work is performed in an office environment and routinely utilizes standard office equipment, including keyboards, computers, etc., and requires close visual insight to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer, and extensive reading to perform the core functions listed in this job description. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies as well as communicate verbally. Work is primarily sedentary.
