NOTE: This position is HYBRID and requires 2 days a week in our Phoenix, AZ office.
The Business Systems Analysts II role is responsible for formulating and defining systems scope and objectives through research and fact- finding combined with an understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements. The role requires analysis of business and user needs, documenting requirements, and reversing existing system logic difficulties as necessary. This role utilizes a combination of professional, business and technical systems knowledge and skills. As a Business Systems Analyst II, you will guide and advise less-experienced Business Systems Analysts, and you must be competent to work in some phases of systems analysis with consideration of the business implications in the application of technology to the current business environment. Additionally, you are responsible for fulfilling business needs in the development, implementation and maintenance of processing and reporting systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES / JOB DUTIES
Plans tests or a defined subset of a larger system test. May make recommendations for acceptance/ rejection if requirements are not all met.
Analyzes user requests for system changes or enhancements. Documents functional requirements.
Determines cost, feasibility and utility. Develops recommendations as to how, when or whether to proceed with making the changes.
Provides specific subject matter expertise on applications, systems and/or processes to internal clients in identifying and resolving, processing/reporting problems in specific business systems. Consultation can take the form of troubleshooting and/or education.
Defines new data tables. Audits and maintains existing data tables. Defines format and range of values for new data added to existing tables.
Provides ongoing training and assistance for end users and other stakeholder groups for a particular application, system or process.
Analyses processing procedures. Develops recommendations for improvements.
Creates and maintains data dictionaries for applications and systems supported by the analyst. These are definitions of what the data actually represent, how it's used in the business, and a range of expected values where needed.
Analyzes data and system discrepancies. Documents issues. Works with programmers to correct data problems.
Assists in the development of communication content for specific system changes being implemented in production. Availability during off business hours, weekends and holidays based on system performance or outages.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of business unit operations typically acquired through two years experience or formal training. Satisfactory oral and written communication skills for data collection and documentation
User level knowledge of all systems developed and supported within the unit, preferably working with any travel systems such as Travelport, TST, Sabre, Globalware, Galileo.
Basic knowledge of various tools such as spreadsheets, word processors or database organizers including formulas and macros.
Basic knowledge of languages or utilities necessary to perform work.
Basic knowledge of either business or systems analysis.
Proven analytical and writing skills to produce systems development requests.
User level knowledge of all systems developed and supported within the unit.
Ability to develop an understanding of data relationships among various systems within assigned functional area.
If responsibilities include programming/report production, knowledge of two or more fourth generation programming languages.
Knowledge of structure testing methodology.
Working knowledge of automated testing tools and other test management applications (i.e., Quality Center for defect management).
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED , BA Degree in related field preferred
2 - 4 years IT industry exper ience
2 - 4 years business systems analysis experience, preferably working specifically with travel systems such as Travelport, TST, Sabre, Globalware, Galileo.
