The Quality Engineer role is part of the quality organization and instrumental in all aspects of understanding and meeting the expectations of the customer.

The Quality Engineer role will be vital in establishing and maintaining internal processes, documenting/training of those processes, and promoting continuous improvement. The Quality Engineer will work with all levels within the organization to promote standardization and meeting the technical/quality requirements.

Activities and responsibilities of the Quality Engineer include:

  • Documentation development and maintenance

  • PPAP and other APQP Activities

  • Intercompany Audits (internal)

  • Drawing/Specification Analysis

  • Quality Incidents investigations (8D, FMEA, 5-Why, etc)

  • Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR) investigations

  • Continuous Improvement Initiatives (internally and externally)

  • Part inspections (various hand gauges and instrumentation)

  • Management of site-specific calibrations and calibration system

  • Other duties as assigned to meet ever changing customer needs

Professional Experience Requirements:

Education:

  • A minimum of a two-year degree in a correlating discipline (Engineering, Industrial Management, Operations Management, etc.)

  • Preference for a four-year degree in a correlating discipline

  • Preference for SQE, CQE, or equivalent certification from a sanctioning body (i.e. ASQ)

Work Experience:

  • A minimum of 4 years’ proven experience in a quality environment with an emphasis on strengthening quality and performance of a QMS

  • Experience in reading and extrapolating information from engineering drawings

  • Experience in, or a working knowledge of, ISO 9001:2015, AS9100, or IATF16949

  • Experience in conducting internal or external audits for conformance to given standards

  • Experience in conducting and leading continuous improvement activities with sustained tangible results

  • Experience in utilizing various tools and disciplines in regard to root cause identification, corrective action implementation, and continued sustainability

  • Strong preference for experience in the creation of standard work instructions and or process flow diagrams

  • Experience using various testing equipment, such as but not limited to calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, thread gauges, optical comparators, etc.

  • Strong preference for experience in the fastener industry

  • Strong preference for experience in, and a working knowledge of, fastener related specifications such as but not limited to: ASTM, ASME, IFI, MIL, DIN

Personal Skillsets:

  • Efficient time management, with the ability to efficiently see numerous tasks through to completion

  • Excellent communication skills (via face-to-face communication, phone, and email) across all organizational levels

  • Ability to teach complex subject matter and check for understanding

  • Precision oriented
