Description:
GENERAL SUMMARY: Delivers intraoperative care to the surgical patient, primarily in the scrub role. Serves the patients from neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Scrubs surgical cases in own specialty independently and in other areas with minimal direction. - Maintains knowledge of equipment set-up and functioning and seeks appropriate resource when necessary. - Assists in the circulating role under the direct supervision of R.N. - Prepares for surgical cases in an efficient manner, anticipating needs of patient, surgeon, anesthesia and other O.R. team members. - Provides a safe environment for patient and staff by adhering to standards of aseptic technique and department/hospital policy. - Communicates effectively with patient, staff and physicians.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: - Participates in orientation of new personnel. - Assists in maintenance of physician preference cards. - Participates in departmental Performance Improvement activities. - Attends department meetings and inservices.
