Summary

The Vice President, Sales (National Accounts) is responsible for managing and growing TA fuel and truck service business while building strong relationships with existing and new national fleet customers. This role is pivotal in driving TA business growth by developing and managing relationships within the transportation industry. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in sales, leadership, teambuilding, and account management within the transportation industry.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities with large key accounts and fleet trucking companies and businesses to expand TravelCenters of America’s market presence.

  • Account Management: Maintain and grow existing accounts business (primarily fuels and maintenance) by understanding client needs, providing tailored solutions, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve company goals and objectives.

  • Relationship Building: Establish and nurture strong relationships with the c-suite leadership, key decision-makers and stakeholders within target accounts.

  • Negotiation: Lead contract negotiations to secure favorable terms and conditions for TravelCenters of America.

  • Market Analysis: Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and customer needs.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including marketing, operations, and finance, to ensure seamless service delivery and customer satisfaction.

  • Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on account performance, sales activities, and market conditions to senior management.

  • Ensure TA & bp’s safety, risk, and compliance culture and expectations are met. Prioritize safety in all aspects of the role and support the Believe in Zero safety philosophy.”

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred. Advanced degree a plus.

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in national sales and account management preferred. Transportation or logistics industry experience a plus.

  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with key clients.

  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.

  • Ability to analyze market trends and data to inform business decisions.

  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Results-driven with a strong focus on achieving sales targets.

  • Approximately 75% of the workload will involve traveling to meet with clients across the country and participating in industry events.
