Job Title: Human Resources Coordinator

Position Summary: In collaboration with the Human Resources Manager, provide administrative Human Resources support to employees and supervisors in the areas of onboarding, employee relations, and enforcing policies and procedures for assigned affiliated agencies: Gateway-Longview, Inc. and New Directions Youth and Family Services.

Department

In collaboration with the Human Resources Director, oversee the recruitment and hiring process for Gateway-Longview employment opportunities to ensure there is an adequate flow of qualified and diverse candidates for all employment and internship opportunities.

Professional Development Opportunities

Position Specific Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain up to date personnel files for new and active staff and ensure that all necessary documentation is obtained

  • Assist with the hiring process which will include verifying references, completing onboarding documents and required background checks for potential candidates, and creating new hire personnel files

  • In collaboration with HR Manager, assist with coordinating required annual updates for staff including, but not limited to, annual physicals, background checks and audits

  • Respond to unemployment insurance claims within required time frames

  • Process employee requests including professional development and reimbursement requests

  • Maintain files for terminated employees in accordance with applicable state and federal laws

  • Coordinate agency Employee Recognition programs including Service Awards, Living the Vision, Staff on the Move and High-Five awards

  • Present Human Resources topics at monthly New Hire Orientation

  • Provide guidance on company policies to supervisors and employees in order to ensure consistent Human Resources practices

  • Track employee driving statuses, and process applicable notifications

  • Sort and distribute HR mail, order supplies and assist with the on-going administrative needs of the department

  • All other duties assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Self-motivated and detail oriented with excellent verbal and communication skills

  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality

  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage candidates and community contacts from a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds

  • Ability to travel to other agency locations as required

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Human Resources or related field and 1 year of relevant experience

  • Valid New York State Driver’s License
