UCHealth Billing Specialist EMS in Windsor, Colorado

Department: PVH EMS Admin Support
FTE: PRN, 0.0, 0.00 hours per pay period (2 weeks)
Shift: Flex
Pay: $19.67 - $25.57 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience
Summary:
Performs daily ambulance charge entry including EMS level codes, scanning, compliance and preparation of final billing.
Responsibilities:
Enters patient information. Scans forms and trip reports related to the billing charge into the medical record. Maintains appropriate files, documents, and reports within the ambulance department.
Enters, edits, and reviews incident, charge, and diagnostic information inputs.
Verifies and corrects billing information required to submit the bill. Produces reports, letters, and other correspondence. Works with Billing, Compliance, and Accounting departments to maintain the integrity of all ambulance financial operations. Collaborates with Compliance in regard to HIPAA Red Flag Rules.
Assists with education for EMS staff and other professionals regarding documentation and coding as identified by audits, reviews projects, or upon request.
Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
Requirements:
- Minimum Required Education: High school diploma or GED.
Required Licensure/Certification: None required.
Minimum Experience: 2 years' medical billing, healthcare patient registration, healthcare charge entry, or closely related experience.
