Quality Control Specialist - Winter Haven, FL

Summary/Objective

In addition to the duties of a Quality Control Lab Technician, the Quality Control Specialist shall provide support for the Quality Control Manager and Supervisor in the areas of employee training, documentation and troubleshooting.

Essential Functions

Description of Duties:

  • Proficient in all of the duties and responsibilities as outlined in the Quality Control Lab Technician position description.

  • Capable of routine GC maintenance as well as instrument start up and shut down protocols.

  • Work closely with the QC Manager/Supervisor and Operations Manager to identify non-typical distillation campaigns and establish the appropriate GC testing methodology.

  • Serve as a review and validation point for GC data entered into the inventory spreadsheets subsequent to any non-standard distillation campaign.

  • Assist the QC Manager/Supervisor in scheduling and completing the FSSC 22000 Internal Audit Program.

  • Represent the Quality Team during daily morning meetings as requested by the QC Manager/Supervisor.

  • Assist in the documentation of new and revised analytical methodology.

  • Inventory and order laboratory supplies as directed

  • This position shall include significant cross training in AR analytical protocols. This training shall include the ability to utilize the GC MS, GC MS/MS and LC MS/MS for the identification of unknowns.

  • All other duties as directed and appropriate for the purposes of Florida Chemical Co.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • Indirect. The Quality Control Specialist will be a primary trainer for new quality control employees.

Work Environment

  • Analytical laboratory environment which will include some time spent in a manufacturing areas

Physical Demands

  • Standing, walking, sitting, manual dexterity and light lifting

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • Salary Non-Exempt. Schedule is Monday – Friday (40 hours) 8am – 5pm.

Travel

  • None anticipated

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a physical science required. External candidates with commensurate experience may be considered.

  • 18 months experience in the role of Laboratory Technician II with Florida Chemical/ADM.

  • Approval from the QC Supervisor and Manager based on performance and analytical capabilities.
