Represent the agency in civil and criminal prosecutions; administrative and civil establishment of child and medical support orders as well as modifications and enforcement of those orders. Prepare motions, pleadings, briefs, judgments, reports and other legal documents and necessary correspondence in connection of civil child support actions, trials, hearings, and other legal proceedings. Attend court hearings as required in both Domestic Relations and Juvenile Courts in all types of support cases; attend Bankruptcy Court and Probate Court hearings when necessary. Determine the existence or non-existence of a parent and child relationship and issues administrative orders, conduct hearings pertaining to administrative processes in accordance with applicable state statues and policy. Conduct legal research, and prepare affidavits, depositions, judgment entries, and other legal documents when required. Complete record of administrative hearing proceedings, which includes copies of all documents and exhibits submitted; scan same into OnBase. Coordinate with supervisory staff as to which cases will have administrative orders issued, and which cases must be filed in Mahoning County Court. Handle case information confidentially. Document Child Support Enforcement computer system with all pertinent case information. Review, approve and/or make corrections to Child Support Enforcement Agency (CSEA) calculations of support awards based on residential and non-residential income information and the application of Ohio's child support guidelines. Coordinate with Supervisory staff as to administrative hearing results, as well as any needed corrections to calculations. Advise department staff regarding legal issues involved in the preparation of child support orders. Issue administrative recommendations; provide technical assistance to CSEA staff regarding the decision. Study, interpret and apply laws, court decisions and other legal authorities in the preparation of cases and briefs; access various resources, such as but not limited to, Ohio Department of Human Services (OHDS) InnerWeb, Child Support Enforcement Manual (CSEM) and Computer Based Training (CBT). Perform additional duties and assignments as requested. Qualifications: Juris Doctor and one (1) year in practice. Admitted to practice law in the State of Ohio and be in good standing. Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Applicants who do not meet the minimum qualifications will not be considered. This is a bargaining unit position.
